Snow hits Long Island

Location: Long Island, NY
December 26, 2010

Sunday December 26 2010 afternoon saw Long Island smack in the middle of the blizzard that forecasters predicted would dump 15 to 20 inches of snow on the region, and up to two feet in some areas. “The biggest hazard in this situation is heavy snow and strong winds,” said meteorologist David Stark with the National Weather Service. The southern coastal storm that has blasted Long Island also will bring whiteout conditions and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour in some areas.
