Location: Nablus, West Bank
December 28, 2010

An Israeli soldier enters a room in the Joseph Tomb compound where ultra-Orthodox Jewish women are deep in prayer as hundreds of Jewish settlers and ultra-Orthodox Jewish pilgrims are escorted to Joseph’s Tomb, in the West Bank city of Nablus early 28 December 2010. In coordination with the Palestinian forces that control Nabus, the Israeli army escorted hundreds of Jewish settlers to the ancient shrine, believed to be the final resting place of the biblical patriach. The tomb saw fierce fighting a decade ago in the 2nd Intifada and has recently undergone extensive renovations including a new roof.
