Parking meters and all other regulations will be in effect.
The holiday, which is also known as President’s Day, commemorates the birthday of the United States’ first president. It was originally implemented by an act of Congress in 1880 for government offices, but was expanded five years later to include all federal offices.
This article has some inaccuracies; whereas Feb. 22nd used to be known as George Washington’s Birthday, it was later changed to President’s Day to honor all American Presidents. In 1968, Congress authorized that that President’s Day would be observed the third Monday of February, and the change would be effective in 1971.
