Brooklyn, NY – A Atheist billboard went up in Greenpoint on Wednesday, after a Williamsburg landlord thwarted attempts to install the ad near the neighborhood’s Hasidic community.

The advertising company Clear Channel and the national non-believing group American Atheists picked a new spot for the billboard facing Brooklyn-bound drivers crossing the Kosciuszko Bridge at the corner of Stewart Avenue and Thomas Street — about two miles north of the S. Fifth Street roof where building owner Kenny Stier prevented them from installing the bilingual sign on Tuesday morning.

The new location wasn’t the one that American Atheists director David Silverman really wanted, but he described the new location as “great.”

“I still feel bad because of the Jews,” said Silverman, who wanted the billboard near Williamsburg’s Orthodox quarter in hopes of reaching atheists “trapped” within the strict religious community.

I don’t know why anyone would care if the atheists want to waste their money.

All Atheist are a bunch of fakers! why do they pick a religious community and not a non religious communities where they have a better chance to find the people that are interested in them?

Can someone please explain to me how this is legal? If they’d be targeting religion in general I can understand. I saw it last night, they put the Shem in huge lettering. It’s horrible! How would that work if it was lehavdil allah or j there???

As Shakespeare once wrote: “Much ado about nothing…”
Notwithstanding the First Amendment right for anyone to say what they want, no matter how wrong we may believe them to be, the sign is in Hebrew and English. Were it to have been in Yiddish, we might have been more concerned. However, as many of the residents of Williamsburg are as fluent in reading and writing modern Hebrew (an invention of the Ziyoinim) as they are in English, there is little need to worry…

I think a huge protest in front of the advertising company (or somewhere) is needed.

    From the full article:
“A Clear Channel spokesman said the client is happy and the billboard has been inspected for safety in the wake of a freak, act of god accident that toppled another sign in January on the Brooklyn–Queens expressway at Meeker Avenue.”

Haha! I think the apostate might take offense to that choice of words. May another act of G-d destroy this sign and it’s message.

Do nothing and certainly no vandalism.
His posturing won’t change my emunah. If anyone is motivated by his sign to go “OTD,” then I doubt the sign is the real problem.
He’s looking to goad people: don’t give him what he wants.
He’s looking for publicity: don’t give him what he wants.

If we, in the frum community, had utilized every single ad space for the purpose of promoting Tznius and other Mitzvos and even for promoting Sheva Mitzvos Bney Noach for the Goyim, there would be no advertising space left for these idiots.

At the very least, we can give them “a taste of their own medicine” by posting huge billboard in their own turf, to make fun of them and to show them how hypocritical they are and that in truth they DO believe and are only “in denial”, so as to gave themselves an excuse to satisfy their Yetzer Hara.

Nothing in this word “stands still”

Either we influence them, or if “we sleep” the ‘rats’ will infest our living space in an attempt to try and influence us, only because we are sleeping and not doing our job to OHR LAGOYIM.
