Ambassador Fayssal al-Hamwi told a meeting of the U.N. Human Rights Council Monday that Israeli weapons were being funneled to opposition groups and foreign fighters linked to al-Qaida.
Al-Hamwi was responding to a U.N.-commissioned expert report that found “widespread and systematic violations” against civilians in the Syrian government’s violent crackdown on opposition groups.
The U.N. expert panel’s chairman, Brazilian professor Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, says civilians have died due to the government’s obstruction of humanitarian aid.
The Red Cross is still waiting for unimpeded access to areas affected by fighting.
And if true. What’s wrong.
Its not true. Its not in Israel’s best interest to have Assad deposed, because he will just be replaced by an Islamist government. If anything, Israel should be siding with Assad. Blaming Israel for anything and everything to take the focus off themselves is the oldest trick in the Arab playbook. I don’t think it works as well as it used to, though. People can see for themselves what kind of murderers the Arabs can be.
So Israel is supplying weapons to an organization that wants to destroy them ….hmm fact check please!
This is most likely untrue. However, Israel has a great deal of interest in helping peaceful Muslim groups overthrow terrorists.
Israel is neutral on this. There are good Syrians and bad in the opposition. It is like 1917 Revolution in Russia. Arms for the good could end up with the bad.
In addition, Israeli Beduin and some Israeli Arabs and Jews unfortunately are in the arms smuggling game. A leader of Fatah tried to sell Israeli arms to Khaddafy when he could not get any others. Quite possible someone is making a quick buck. Could be Lebanese too. That country is a cesspool.
