New York – As a response to the shenanigans of a few bloggers speculating on who I voted for in the recent special election, I feel it’s important to set the record straight.

I like Lew Fidler. That’s why I did not endorse anyone. Lew is a decent guy who has helped the Jewish community. In light of the 60+ rabbonim who said it was prohibited to vote for him because of his stance on gay marriage—as well as the urging from my own rebbe, Rabbi Yisroel Belsky of Yeshivah Torah Vodaath urging people to support David Storobin—I had no choice but to vote my conscience and I voted for David Storobin.
I call upon the Board of Elections to make my absentee ballot public and set the record straight once and for all.
I believe that’s illegal (because if it’s possible for someone to prove how they voted, they can be bribed for voting for the “correct” candidate or beaten/attacked for voting the “wrong” candidate).
Hikind knows it’s illegal….
Who cares how Dov voted..? Dov is a real erliche honest politician who is always here for Klal yisroel and he has every right to vote like every citizen behind the curtain and its no ones business what he does behind the curtain…
All this attacking Hikind is dirty tactics by the people who can’t handle when Hikind delivers to the community.
I will agree that Hikind has his Israel agenda and some can’t take that, but look at the overall picture on how every budget he delivers, every constituent gets help in his office by his trained staff, so why all this negetive blog posting against an elected official that does what he was elected for?
I just don’t get it.
I just don’t get it. Dov Hikind only wants the best for us. Even if you don’t agree with a particular stand on something, you have to admire his spunk and his tenacity. He does not give in easily. I, for one, don’t mind his “Israel Agenda”–don’t out brothers and sisters live there? Who cares if they are Ashkenaz, Sfardi, Ethiopian, black yarmulke,Gerrer yarmulke, baseball cap, shtreimal, spudick, kippa sruga, short peyos, long peyos, no peyos, They are our mishpacha. At my son in law’s aufruf in Israel many years ago, the windowsill became “bedecked” with hats–the hamburg, the shtreimel, the Australian cowboy hat, and the baseball cap all stood on the windowsill while their owners put their talleisim over their heads. NOT ONE HAT PROTESTED !! I remember thinking–why can’t we all be like that.
So folks, instead of attacking Dov, we should be thanking him for standing up for all of us–no matter what head covering we have!
I wonder why VIN censors my comments on this issue, especially the criticism of Mr. Hikind who had no qualms about voting for Mr. Cuomo who staunchly advocated the redefining of marriage
Shame.
Dov’s request is a bit strange to say the least. Lew Fidler is a married Yid with children. His opponent on the other hand is a bochur, so tell me, who is obeying Hashem more?
I’ll challenge anyone to call Hikinds office and then call any other Askanim and see who actually responds and who only gives press conferences and writes articles.
Hikind responds to every phone call and his office follows up. I was impressed.
I’m starting to think that Dov needs to start issuing press releases on every small stupid thing and stop working hard for the community and maybe then everyone will like him and there will be shalom al yisroel. Why work like a dog trying to get results that help the community and have everyone hate you?
Dov we love you and keep up the great hard work on behalf of the community and the poeple that elected you.
This was a very tough choice. The Rabbanim made it even more difficult. They asked us to vote for an inexperienced child promoted by his questionable “handlers” solely on the basis of one issue. Most of us would see a far greater financial benefit by voting for Fiddler, so I did the only sensible, correct thing. I did not vote for either of them. Dear Rabbis: give us a viable, realistic alternative, please!
