It wasn’t any better in the late 80s when I was in the regular undergrad college. Exams scheduled for Pesach which was also good Friday. (You can’t accuse them of antisemitism, just anti religion). It was very hard to get them to reschedule. I hope this helps the future students.

I attended NYU CoD in the 70.s. Though most problems were solved there was one teacher that really had issues with Jews and scheduled tests on Chag. When the issue was brought to his attention he gave us the choice of religion or passing his course. I was not saddened to hear that he suffered a serious he later suffereda serios heart attack during a lecture and NOBODY ran to get help.

Religious bias is everywhere. It’s in Universities, corporations, and even government.
It is time that someone makes a legal organization that can be activated when religions violations are committed. As long as people have no reprecusions they will continue to discriminate.

You should all realize a few things.

    1. The dishonest, lying “Reform” movement and their slightly less egregious cousin called the “Conservative” movement are the primary sources of information for Jews who are too ignorant to know any better. They ignore JUDAISM entirely and only know from these 19th and 20th century cults. You cannot blame them for not knowing that tomorrow is yom tov. They don’t see it that way at all. They see it as “Friday”. To them, Passover is one day (maybe two). I, myself, have a 2nd cousin whose parents were “off the derech” as we say today. To him, Pesach is a bowl of matzo ball soup on the first night, served with food catered from a treif restaurant. That is VERY typical of Jews today.

    2. If these Jews (many of them are not REALLY Jews, by the way) at the University are of the same mindset as my 2nd cousin, then they don’t even KNOW they are doing wrong. They think that people who celebrate pesach for 8 days are FANATICS and crazy people. Why? Because some Baptist “Rabbi” named Susan told them so.

Let’s not forget that NYU is not trying to interfere with Torah… today’s generation has no idea what Torah or Judaism is. THAT’s the shame!

When I served in the United States Air Force, over 45 years ago, there was a farbisen Master Sergeant by the name of Ollie, who happened to be a member of a minority group. One would have thought that he would have been more sympathetic to the religious needs of Jewish service personnel. In fact, he was the exact opposite. I explained to him that Rosh Hashanah was coming up, and General Wood, who was the commanding officer of our base, had issued a written order excusing all Jewish service personnel from duty. Ollie meanly stated, “Zahav, your work comes ahead of your religion. I haven’t seen any such order”. In any event, his staff eventually found the order; although I was excused, in order to save face, he wouldn’t give me the satisfaction of telling me that I was right; rather, he delegated that to a subordinate. Years later, in civilian employment, I ran into the same roadblock. Finally, I photocopied a leaflet from our local Federation, which explained each and every Jewish holiday, and the importance of observant Jews not working on certain days. The Federation printout was worth its weight in gold!
