Visitors discovered about a hundred headstones had been tipped over, some spray-painted with Nazi and other anti-Semitic symbols.
Police, however, do not believe an organised group of extremists was responsible for the racially motivated vandalism. They suspect 'local hooligans' are responsible.
Czestochowa's Jewish cemetery consists of more than 4,000 graves. The most recent burials were recorded in 1970.
Orthodox Jews visit the site every year to pay homage to a famous rabbi, Izaak Mayer Justman, buried there in the 1920s. [PAP]
All the killings that the polish anti-Semites committed before, during & after WW.II were “local” and “not organized”. Poor poles. They were “victims” of the nazis, who overran their country. They deserve “compensation”.
