Berlin – Berlin’s Jewish Hospital will suspend circumcisions after a German court ruled this week that performing the procedure on religious grounds is unlawful, a hospital spokesman said Friday.

“We are suspending circumcisions until the legal position is clear,” Gerhard Nerlich told AFP, citing head of internal medicine Kirstof Graf.

The hospital performs 300 circumcisions a year, a third of which are for religious reasons and the remainder due to medical concerns.

“We regularly performed circumcisions before this ruling but we don’t have the legal freedom to do so any more,” said Nerlich, adding that two procedures had already been cancelled.

You know something, I respect the Germans. Less than 70 years after brutally murdering over 1,000,000 Jewish babies, they have become very concerned about
our health. They do not see any irony or shame in their circumcision ban. What a proud and just people. Ihope they don’t issue a ban on mechiyas amalek.
I am looking forward to using a mohel’s knife for that.

It’s about time that modern Germany finally shows its true colors that they are a Nazi country today, not unlike Hitler Yemach Shmo’s rule.

Nazi Germany started it’s hatred against Jews by FIRST critiquing Shechita and Mila to paint Jews in a bad light and then later took it to the next level and proceeded to be even more bold in the Gas Chambers.

    A Nazi Remains a Nazi.

    Just like in 1933
    All over again
First they just brought 100,000 Russian Jews, now make it illegal to keep ideshkeit.
Did you already started printing yellow stars for us?

I see the usual knee-jerk, shoot from the hip, armchair critics of anything and everything are already showing their Pavlovian reactions to anything remotely anti-Jewish.

Do you *really* see this as a portent of another (שואה (חס ושלום – see #2 ’s lapidary gem that stated “modern Germany finally shows its true colors that they are a Nazi country today, not unlike Hitler Yemach Shmo’s rule” – or are you just breaking wind and using your anuses instead of your intellects?

Neither commentators #2 or #3 have bothered to take into consideration the possibility of this verdict being appealed – neither at local (state) level, nor in the German Bundesverfassungsgericht, or Federal Supreme Court. If that does not work, there is always the European Court of Human Rights to hear this emotive case.

If commentators really believe that the Germany of 2012 has the same mindset of the Germany of 1933 then they are even stupider than I had already considered them to be.

The writing is on the wall for bris milah in the US. It’s just a matter of time before it gets passed…they tried in San Fransisco last year. Now with the government forcing us to get health insurance, they will decide what we can be covered against. Complications from a Bris? POTENTIAL complications?? That’s it, you’re toast. Ergo, ban Bris milah. You heard it first here.

No 6: the nazis love common sense so I believe you are actually a nazi advocating for nazism right here on vin in 2012. The fact that a jewish hospital has cancelled brissim does not bother you in the slightest as you feel there is no urgency as it can be appealed in the European Court. Shame on you. We are witnessing Nazism in its truest form and you are perfectly happy to sit back and enjoy the show.

The remark published by #8 (Halbshich) and #9 (MistahKurz) show their selectiveness of thought.

Of course the ECR would not deal with this case as a matter of urgency; it is a court of last resort, rather like the US Supreme Court. Halbshich, however, has conveniently &#8 220;overlooked&#8 221; what I wrote about appealing the case to the local (state) courts, or in the German Bundesverfassungsgericht, or Federal Supreme Court.

Most tellingly, the German *Jewish* organizations have maintained a very telling and unusual silence in this matter, as have the local *Moslem* advocacy groups. If anyone should be jumping up and down and shouting their heads off in protest it should have been them.

Come to that, we have not heard a single word of protest from any official American Jewish organization either.

I wonder why &#8 211; considering you all see neo-Nazis under the bed? I would have thought that Halbshich, MistahKurz, and their ilk would have been rushing to their Congressional representatives by now, demanding that the US put pressure on Germany to correct this &#8 220;renewed act of Nazi atrocity&#8 221;.

But no. It&#8 217;s so much easier to condemn people like me &#8 211; an advocate for common sense.
