Kiamesha Lake, NY – Town of Thompson officials plan to set a park and recreation fee that would be levied against subdivision developers, creating a fund to bolster amenities at town parks.

The town would charge developers $1,000 per lot. Money from the fee would bankroll improvements at existing town parks and construction of new recreation facilities, town officials said. The Town Board is expected to introduce the fee by local law in September.
"The theory is that if you bring in a certain number of people, they'll impact the recreation facilities of the town and this is one way to pay for it," Deputy Supervisor Bill Rieber said.

"It's an added fee up front for me, and I have to recoup that," said Ronald Steinberg, of Ronstein Construction in Rock Hill. "I'm just going to have to pass the fees on to the new homeowner. Why increase their burden?" [Record]

PLEASE register to vote. I am a local here and have been for all of my life. You could EASILY get rid of this board and put your own people in place. I’m sure you would do a much better job of running this town than these morons could ever do.

I think it makes sense. The summer infulx puts more stress on their parks etc and a one time fee of $1000 per family would help to alleviate that. Stop with the babyish kvetching and name calling. Grown up and be responsible citizens. Bunch of loosers who have no concept of being a memeber of a greater community or of responisbility to the public. If you weren’t raise to learn how to take and only take from your time in utero, perhaps you would be able to see that you also have a responsibility to give. My time upstate has shown me that there is no more selfish breed than the chaseeedisheh velt.
