A 50-question survey focusing on New Yorkers’ drinking habits is being formulated by the Department of Health, and will be used to try and understanding alcohol use and abuse in the city through telephone surveys, according to the mayor’s office.

“The focus of what they ask is about underage drinking. They’re working on the survey. There is no legislation at this time, they’re working to get a handle on what is happening primarily with underage drinking,” said a spokesman for Bloomberg.

Mr. Mayor, bans lead to less taxes being collected because the goods aren’t available. I’m all for healthy lifestyles and moderation and I’m behind anyone who uses that to take on unhealthy habits. But, moderation doesn’t mean banning things and it doesn’t mean taking decision making away from people. The populice can be armed with the facts and then they can choose life or death, but leave that to them. Let them choose life responsibly not by government fiat.

If ther eis to be a limit on sweetened soda then, by all means extend it to beer. The problem is, hipsters, the Mayors favorite citizens, drink beer like water. They will not agree to this.

The sale of alcoholic beverages should be banned at NYC sporting events, whether at baseball, football, or basketball games. The fans become very rowdy and aggressive once they’ve consume beer (or other alcoholic beverages). In addition, many of them drive home after consuming large amounts of alcohol. For those who don’t drive, they cause problems on mass transit, because of their inebriated condition.

Beer is healthy in moderation. It contains B vitamins and it is suggested that nursing woman drink some to help their milk supply. Since Bloomberg is all for nursing, he should encourage nursing women to drink beer!
