Jerusalem – Israeli border police say troops have shot dead a Palestinian man traveling in a car that burst through a checkpoint at the entrance to Jerusalem.

Border police spokesman Shai Hakimi says the vehicle drove through the checkpoint at high speed early Monday, and the driver tried to run over officers who ordered him to stop. He says police opened fire, killing one passenger and wounding two others.
He said he didn’t know if the Palestinians were armed because the driver drove into a Palestinian neighborhood of east Jerusalem, eluding police.
There was no immediate Palestinian comment.
He should have stopped or slowed down. Certain boundaries must be respected. Many good men and women in the IDF, Border Police, COGAT etc. put their lives on the line every day for their fellow citizens of the State of Israel.
