Manhattan, NY – In nearly three weeks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will travel to New York, and for the second year in a row, he will be staying at the Warwick Hotel in Manhattan, according to the New York Post.

Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly denied the Holocaust and accused the United States of orchestrating the deadly attacks of September 11th, will be in New York to speak at the United Nations General Assembly, which opens its 67th regular session on September 18th.

Numerous groups are protesting Ahmadinejad’s stay at the Warwick Hotel, including United Against Nuclear Iran and B’nai B’rith

“This is a true outrage, particularly considering that US Secret Service and NYPD will be responsible for securing the premises, at taxpayer expense,” Mark D. Wallace of UANI wrote in The Post recently. Wallace is also a former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

The Algemeiner reached out to the Warwick Hotel but has yet to receive comment.

Daniel Mariaschin, who is B’nai B’rith’s executive vice president says that allowing Ahmadinejad a place to stay in New York “would leave a serious stain on the hotel’s reputation.”

Last year, when the hotel came under fire for accommodating Ahmadinejad, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg argued that if the UN headquarters are going to be in Manhattan, the city must protect the rights of everyone attending.

“You cannot have the United Nations here if you’re going to tell them they can’t have one of their member states or somebody they invite,” he said.

“It doesn’t mean you endorse it. It doesn’t mean you like it,” Bloomberg added. “You’d prefer something else but the truth of the matter is, if you want the United Nations — and we really do this is a very big part of our economy. You just can’t say no.”

NYC has agreed to be host city to the UN and must allow all reps from member nations to stay here in the city. The City has an office that assists in finding accomodations for the annual visits of heads of state and foreign ministers, including this tyrant from Iran. He is as entitled to be here and have the same rights and protections as Netanyahu, without implying moral equivalence. Bnai Brith an all these other publicity seeking groups should find something else to kvetch about

He should stay at the Park House hotel in Boro Park.
Save the government some money as well!

Some people say Hitler, yemach shmo, was good for Germany’s economy. Some things are more important than the economy.. Boot out the UN from New York and out of the U.S.!

Is the algemiener going to check the tzitsis of every world leader to see if they are kosher, before we grant them a place to stay in NYC?

Give me break, most of the world leaders who are part of the UN are tyrants some who much worse that Ahmadinejad and we don’t hear boo about them.

As #1 said, the UN is in NY and we have to put up with all the wackos who make up this great world body.

Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly denied the Holocaust

Ahmadinejad, never denied the Holocaust, he just claims that the Zionists collaborated with the Nazis to become victims and have a right to Israel, as was claimed by R’ Michael Ber Weissmandel and other Gedoilei Yisroel.

The Jews in Iran never suffered if the were not Zionists, they get the greatest resprct.

This is all a Zionist propaganda and we shouldn’t buy it.

As long as the UN is legally entitled to remain in NYC, the lodgings of the diplomats and heads of state from the various UN missions, cannot be infringed upon. However, the US State Department can limit how far from the UN the heads of state may travel (i.e. confined to Manhattan). In 1960, the UN hosted Nikita Khrushchev, Gamal Nasser, Fidel Castro, and others. At that time, there were complaints from local officials in NYC, about the cost of protecting them. Even the NY Daily News in an editorial stated that “they can all get out of town”.

Bloomberg’s #1 statement of his career is “it will bring in revenue for the city” since when is government about “bringing in revenue”. Its amazing how NYC’s budget even during an economic downturn, has risen every year. Silly surcharges have been added everywhere. Parking violations are at an all time high, DOB, DOH, FDNY, DEP, and DOF violations are also at an all time high. Welcome to Bloomberg’s world.

Mayor Bloomberg and Commentor #1 are correct that the US and New York City must graciously welcome Ahmadinejad and the other assorted tyrants, dictators and despots under the terms of the treaty establishing the UN in New York.

That’s the government’s obligation. No individual hotel is obliged to host any of these folks. Each one may decline to register any delegation it chooses. Let the Iranians – and their comrades – find accommodations on their own. Ghaddafi had to stay in the Libyan mission. I’m certain the Iranian mission can find room for their President!
