The AFP reports (http://bit.ly/R0hvuV) that viewers can now learn about landmark figures such as Anne Frank, Nelson Mandela and lesser well-known individuals like Jan Karski, a Polish citizen who helped fight the Nazis and provided early testimony to the Allies about the Holocaust.
The archive contains six million documents, texts, films and photos culled from a variety of sources including the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland; Israel’s Yad Vashem World Centre for Holocaust Research; and the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. Thus far, the Cultural Institute chronicles 42 different themes, and is expected to greatly expand its offerings in the near future.
