The major disaster declaration makes both counties eligible for both public and individual assistance.
“This is an important step as it gives residents and local leaders confidence that federal aid will be available to help recover from this disaster,” said Lowey.
“The top priorities now are speeding the pace of power restoration to both Westchester and Rockland Counties; and easing the gasoline shortage, particularly for emergency vehicles.” Lowey was one of many government officials who called on FEMA to issue the declarations.

Does anyone know the situation in Monsey? Is power back on? I have mishpacha there, and can’t get through, and am worried.
Power was restored to “some” parts of Monsey. All those areas that were shut down for preventive measures are back up, but the thousands that are without power due to substation damage are in the dark… and same those who’s power lines got knocked down by trees they hardly begun to start repairing that…
But B’H thank god everyone is safe!
