As part of its proposal for the fiscal year starting April 1, the administration is calling for the new program to help with collection enforcement of “past-due tax liabilities.”
Those are described as “fixed and final,” where the taxpayer has exhausted their rights to administrative and court review.
It would be modeled after the state program using license suspension to compel child support payments.
The budget proposed Tuesday includes increasing the civil penalty for possessing unstamped or illegally stamped cigarettes from $150 to $600 per carton.
What does one have to do with the other, abuse of power.
Forget about the drivers license. They should revoke their marriage license.+
Suspend drivers license loss job and go on welfare. Sound like a liberal idea of thee democratic party. Makes no sense
And then lower the threshold to 6000 and then attach other crimes as well.
If this is not abuse of power what is?
Either no one has that power or Banks and private lenders should have that right as well.
So a guy can’t afford to pay his taxes.
Now the goverment makes sure he can’t get to work either.
Then he can’t afford anything.
geniuses in albany.
this is a terrible idea. I know someone who owes more than 10k to the IRS. Not because they don’t pay thier bills but they are struggling to keep their heads above water. They have 10 kids and both parents work long hours just to make ends meet. They rely heavily on their cars for their jobs. The thought of them not having their drivers license is horrifying.
i think the amount is the problem, because there r people who pay a year 18,000 in monsey, so for a late payment of a half year they should suspend ur license?… I would rather say, if u dont pay ur taxes for 3 years in a row they should suspend it….
