Schwartz declined to comment on the reason for the sudden exit of Stephen Price and Suzanne Young-Mercer, the only two board representatives who were neither Orthodox Jewish nor Hasidic, but said he accepted their resignations with regret and wished them well in their endeavors.

The East Ramapo Board of Education has been plagued by class-action lawsuits and allegations of misappropriation of funds on the part of the remaining seven Orthodox Jewish board members.

Interim members will be appointed in lieu of Price and Young-Mercer until the next school board election is held in May.

Can it be that Mr. Price and Ms. Young-Mercer know what may be coming? I laud Mr. Price’s selfless twenty year commitment and Ms. Young-Mercer’s insight during her short stay. Sad. Luke
