Israeli President Shimon Peres’ office said Monday that Obama will be recognized for his “unique and significant contribution to strengthening the State of Israel and the security of its citizens.”

Obama is scheduled to visit Israel in March — his first as president.

Obama has often had a tense relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Jewish state’s West Bank settlement policies and the lack of peace process with the Palestinians.

But Peres and the committee behind the award noted Obama’s overall friendship and backing of the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Israel’s Presidential Medal of Distinction is comparable to the France’s “Legion of Honor” or the “Order of Canada.”

Th evidence for Obama’s clear anti-Israel bias is not worth repeating yet again. Those who lap up Obama’s, and the Democrats, spittle would not recognize an anti-Israel bias if Obama dropped a bomb on Tel-Aviv.

I think this is great, he can put it on his mantle right next to his other undeserved Nobel peace prize

I must chime in and concur, I have found that the “hamoin oilam” (the followers who are not usually apt to rise above and view things objectively) have been so fox news/mikva/friends blabed that they never even gave Obama (yes a black man) a chance. I never voted for him because of his liberal agenda, however, to one who undestands what true Leadership means; this President is one for sure. (Not all leaders are loved, especially presidents in office, but history will show that this president was the most active and successfull presidents in hostory). The only thing that Obama is guilty of is not being more vocal that he supports Israel, thats it, and its a very smart strategy if he wants to have any influence in the Arab world whatsoever. His record, however, is clearly no less pro Israel than Pres Bush. He has hired so many Jews and a Frum Jew to boot. Not saying to vote for a liberal at all, I won’t and didn’t, however, let’s stop being boorish, and showing off our unintelligence and (fox news/mikva/street education and start being somehwat objective.
