The TIMES OF ISRAEL (http://bit.ly/12r1qaR) is reporting that in an interview on ultra-Orthodox radio station Kol Baramah, commentators Avi Bloom and Yaakov Rivlin lashed out at the leaders of Yesh Atid and Jewish Home over their insistence on new mandatory draft laws for the ultra-Orthodox, as well as their efforts to ban the ultra-Orthodox from the new upcoming government.

“We need to think twice about supporting those who hate us. It’s about time we stopped being suckers,” said Bloom.

Bloom said that the current agreement between Jewish Home leader Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid’s Yair Lapid has actually brought about an opportunity for the ultra-Orthodox sector to “finally” separate from the right and the settlers.

“I think at least from an ideological standpoint, if there is something good to come out of this story it is our liberation from the [fake] ‘bear hug’ with the settlers,” said Bloom. “We need to consider the legal implications [of boycotting settlements] and hit their pockets as hard as possible.”

Bloom went on to suggest that support of the settlements is inconsistent with Jewish law.

“The position of Orthodox Judaism on this subject is well known—not to provoke the nations,” Bloom said.

Bloom also lashed out at what he called “the surreal discourse” surrounding drafting ultra-Orthodox Israelis into the IDF.

“Last Thursday I was at the settlement of Karnei Shomron and you see there the mighty forces of the military. Almost every settler is accompanied by a soldier. These are the same forces they want to take from the ultra-Orthodox,” said Bloom.

Yaakov Rivlin charged that the greatest offender was Jewish Home-affiliated Rabbi Dov Lior, who recently backed the agreement between Bennett and Lapid.

“You know who gave us the greatest stab? Rabbi Dov Lior, the leader of the extreme right and his hallucinatory Messianic group, when he signed a document which essentially means excommunicating the ultra-Orthodox community,” said Rivlin.

“It’s time to end all these relations with the real estate dealers in the West Bank,” Rivlin added.

Torah values state that in a time of crisis, the vanguard of Moses’s army after leaving for the holy land fought for the jewish people even after the justice of the nations needs was already justified by their placement of vanguard tribes in their respective lands. What we can learn from this is that Hashem likes it when Israel comes up and works for the future in our armed forces. So if you ask me, the charedi conspiracy to defraud Israel the State by refusing to participate in the armed forces is AGAINST TORAH.

“Revenge”? What revenge would that be, and for what perceived offense(s), I genuinely and seriously wonder?

These “two ‘popular’ ultra-Orthodox radio commentators have never had such a good life – and they know it only too well.

I am not going to rehearse yet again all the benefits that are on offer from the secular government to the chareidi community, but any attempt a “revenge” would be all too obviously a blatant case of biting the hand that feeds them?

“It’s about time we stopped being suckers, said Bloom”. Sounds like he’s adapting Lapid’s slogan…

These people are sick. Nobody is fooled, it was thanks to UTJ allowing the disengagement compensation bill to pass the Knesset finance committee, which was head by a member of their party, that allowed the Disengagement to become reality. .
Only the future will tell us if Bennet is lying about why he joined with Lapid, and unlike the majority of UTJ Knesset members he’s a Rookie and shouldn’t be blamed for what the NRP did years ago.

But if the even a small minority of Charadim do follow these reporters idea of boycotting the settlements it will only 1) Be a huge Chilul Hashem. 2) Won’t work for the same reasons that the leftist boycotts don’t seem to be working…

Let them boycott, we will boycott giving them contributions here from the USA.

These two am haratzim and rabble rousers should abide by our chazal which state Seyag Lachochma Shtikah.
I remember in the parsha of the expulsion of Gush Katif The Gedolim of all sectors were opposed.
But it would not have happened if the Chareidi Chaver Hakneset would oppose.
Does any one really question why Bayit Hayehudi or others dont not take the Chareidi partie seriously ????
In Shulchan Aruch 329 Seif 6″UBEIR HAsmucha Lesfar Afilu Lo Bau ela al iskei Teven Vkash Mechalelin Alaihem es Hashabos” The Rama Afilu Lo Bau ela Rotzim Lova.

    They got it right.
There should not be a muddy view which essentialy makes it seem the sandal wearing rabbis and the Lithuanian rabbis share the same view.
We know they are worlds apart and this proves the point.
Still, caring for and loving every Jew is not a contradiction or hypocrisy.
I may disagree with the ideaology but I need not hate you.
Tearing off masks is a perfectly legitimate activity.
If they can hide behind it I can expose them.

Let’s start by dismantling Beitar Ilit and Kiryat Sefer. Then move on to Ramat Shlomo and Neve Yakov.
Anyway, the Chareidim have never done anything to help the settlers. Because they SAT in the government for $$$$$, 8,000 Jews were removed from their homes in Gush Katif.

    The horror! The horror!
Charedi Parties might not get to be kingmakers in the new government.
(Every other Party has to deal with being on the outside once in a while)
Charedi boys might have to interrupt their lifetime of entitlement for a couple years to take on the same duties as everyone else.
(Every other Jew in Israel has to serve)

Imagine Jews being treated like other Jews! Like everyone else! It’s worse than the Nazis!

    reply to #17

have you ever asked the enlisted what the welcome kit in the army contains…. have you ever discussed the topic of missing morality with soldiers… get real

the issue is not about drafting chareidim as much as its about enforcing their reprensible lifestyle upon chareidim.

    why havent they drafted arabs?
why havent they shared the burden of all socio economic aspects that make the fabric of society tick.
make the girls in their schools do the chessed of the girls in the bais yakovs.
make the boys in the schools do the things that make jewish boys jewish.

“We need to think twice about supporting those who hate us. It’s about time we stopped being suckers,” said Bloom.

The real “suckers” have been the Israeli moms and dads who send their kids out into harms way to defend Am Yisroel and Eretz Yisroel, while people like Bloom and his crowd make excuses as to why there are 50,000+ Haredi IDF exemptions.

The army should offer national service to those who want to study Torah by having them go to communities to teach Torah, supervise kashrus in Israel, etc. The problem is that a lot of people think that those who got exemptions for Torah study were in fact not learning Torah-the government should have carefully supervised these students to make sure they were actually learning Torah.

Great points. They are right. Chareidi Judaism is not Zionist or Right Wing Nationalist. Settlement activity is not synonymous with religion. Chareidim are in favor of peace. The ways of Hashem are sholom. Rav Shach always opposed settlement construction. Shas voted for Oslo and UTJ refused to back the inhabitants of illegal outposts. It is time to break this false symmetry between settlers and chareidim. If this happens than at least some benefit will result from this debacle.
