Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters on Monday that leaks by a former NSA contractor suggest that administrators can “rummage through” personal information at will. He said if that’s true, the program needs better oversight.

The commissioner also said he believes most Americans accept that the government collects records of their telephone calls and Internet usage. He said the program never should have been categorized as secret in the first place.

He said “I think the American public can accept the fact if you tell them that every time you pick up the phone it’s going to be recorded and it goes to the government,” Kelly said. “I think the public can understand that”

What is this guy smoking? Absolutely not, this is not communist Russia, no one wants their conversations recorded and Government should never have a program the public doesn’t want. No surprises here, this guy is for stop and frisk and runs a police city.

We need a government that represents the will of the people, this is something that should go to referendum.
