YNETnews.com (http://bit.ly/12fOsaR) reports that a senior official from the IDF’s Computer Services Directorate said in praising haredis for their achievement that the IDF “preferred” to leave the responsibility for developing the new ‘Tirat Agam’ system—which significantly enhances the IDF’s operational abilities of forces stationed along Israel’s borders—in the capable hands of haredi software developers as opposed to contracting it out to a private sector company.

One the soldiers singled out, who spoke only on conditions of anonymity, said the haredis have enjoyed a great deal of satisfaction from their achievement.

The soldier, who is from Petah Tikva and referred to only as A., 29, also said that, upon being released recently after completing four-and-a-half years of service in the IDF, he sees a marked difference in the way haredis choosing to serve in the IDF are treated in public.

A., 29 said that when he began his IDF service it was “hard” for him to walk around in uniform, but “today” the situation is “reversed.”

I am glad that they are anonymous, because their lives are in danger if their neighbors find out who they are.
But you still published a picture of some of them. I hope that their lives are safe from their ‘fellow’ yidden.

Electronic Warfare (EW) is the “edge of the spear” in modern militaries. It is highly sophisticated in both its technical content and means of employment. Leave it to Yiddishe kep to lead the charge!

Tirat Ha’agam (not Tirat Agam) has been around for over five years, so it’s not so new. I expect these guys are working on an entirely different system, and they used Tirat Ha’agam as the cover story.

This is another old argument. Wars are no longer fight wars by Horse and Bayonets nor by airplanes and guns. It is more and more being fought by digita technology. That being said there is no reason chredim can’t conribute more to that effort. Most charedim, i don’t thnik are great physical fighters. Nevertheless, they have been anlayzing and studying texts their whole life. That being the case they can contribute a great amount to digital warfare. Plus they won’t have to sleep in barracks and an offical army settings per say. It can be like office work as oppoesd to army.
