Lohud.com (http://lohud.us/KhtuVR) reports that the New Square Board of Trustees has received the 30-page executive summary of the environmental impact of the 26,250-square-foot plant and how the facility will be operated.

Deputy Mayor Israel Spitzer said Tuesday a public hearing will be held, as required by law, for residents to comment on the plan.

Adir Poultry is seeking to replace its closed 5,000-square-foot slaughterhouse at the edge of the village.

Included in the executive summary are outlines of the operational, environmental, disposal and traffic issues for the plant that borders residential neighborhoods inside and outside the Ramapo village.

The developer’s executive summary estimated a minimal traffic issue, claims the enclosed design will cut down on the odors and the upgraded sanitary sewer system will be able to handle the outflow from the remains of the chickens.

The estimated workforce of 110 people would likely come from Monsey, Spring Valley and Hillcrest.

The last thing New Skver needs is a 26,000 sq. ft. schlachthois. Does anyone really believe that it will be an asset to the community and that anyone will want to live nearby. There are already several schachthoises in the Monsey area and another one is not needed.

I love chassidim but building a slaughter house in a residential neighborhood?!
Ya gotta love NY. De Blasio would love this idea because NS is a very poor village and this will help jobs. (I know he is in only NYC) But who will advocate for the poor chickens?

    Dear People:

The healthiest nutrition is vegan. Please review pcrm.org. Moreover, these precious creatures are HaShem’s creations – each one an individual with dignity, interests, inherent value and uniqueness, existing in his/her own right. Please consider the impact of the slaughterhouse on the chickens themselves! Not for nothin’ is it called a slaughterhouse. Let’s create new traditions for Shabbos and YonTiv meals. Let’s find parnosah for those who work in slaughterhouses – parnosah where no one gets hurt. No harm to these precious beings. No harm.

It’s all about the money. That is what this is about. $$$$$$. New Square wants it and they don’t care that everyone else is against it. Whoever heard of putting a slaughterhouse among residential houses? A horrible idea. But New Square does not care.

The last one owned by this same company was forced to close due to unsanitary conditions like chicken blood and feces all over the walls. It was totally disgusting and the Ramapo board took a long time to shut it down due to payoffs. I hope this won’t happen again. Gelt talks in Ramapo.

It will only be a money guzzler for the community, and no income whatsoever. Yet, another fundraiser opportunity for the Square heads-of-state.

The article says that there will be a public hearing on this matter, as required by law. Is any resident or group willing to openly speak against it, if the leadership in New Square says it should be done. The last person who opposed the leadership, was almost killed when his house was set on fire.

We still have slaughterhouse down here in Vineland. I can ship if you want.

A slaughterhouse means daily wholesale heartbreaking animal cruelty. Only the most hard hearted people can watch animals cry and try to break free while being butchered without feeling deep pity for the tremendous pain these animals endure. There are Rabbinic opinions that when Mashiach comes, the world will revert to the way it was in Gan Eden before Adam’s cheit (sin). Adam and Chava were initially vegetarians. There will be also be a tikun of the sin and its punishments. Man will no longer have to work by the sweat of his brow to make a living. Women will no longer have pain in childbearing and will no longer be looked down upon as second class. May we merit Mashiach soon in a corrected world.

So, do you think we should put video slot machines in the new Bais Hamikdosh in lieu of the two Mizbeichos?

in Skver a lot of people don’t eat beef, only chicken

Why don’t they build it on the land the Skverers bought in the Catskills? I believe it was the former Homowack property. There is plenty of room there. When New Square first opened up, there were not many people in the area, and it could have a schlacht house. Once the old one was closed, this is not the place for a new one. The area is no longer farms, but is now residential.

Vegan or stam vegetarian is an inferior diet. Far from being healthy, it requires a lot of supplements or the dieter will end up being dangerously malnourished. (Did you wonder why people who buy all sorts of supplements are very disproportionately vegetarian?)

Also, vegetarian males are much less capable of performing an important mitzvah. That is in addition to eating fleishigs on Shabbos and Yom Tov is a mitzvah in itself.

As for chickens suffering: what better destiny there could be for a chicken than to be eaten at the Shabbos table?
