Vincent Ignizio (ihg-NIHZ’-ee-oh), from Staten Island, wants to hold oversight hearings. Many New Yorkers griped that the streets in their neighborhoods were not effectively plowed.
Mayor Bill de Blasio, a Democrat, initially defended his administration’s performance. He later changed his mind after touring one neighborhood, Manhattan’s Upper East Side, where there had been scores of complaints.
He repeated on Thursday that he was “not satisfied with the response.”
It was not immediately known when the city council oversight hearings would be held. Similar hearings were held in the aftermath of the city’s response to a blizzard in 2010.
Ignizio is one of the council’s three Republicans and its minority leader.
Stop crying. He was just asserting (withholding) power. This is minor compared to what down the highway (tollroad).
I think the Mayor was being vindictive.
It seems that the Upper East Side voting precincts voted overwhelmingly for Lhota!
Is this different than what Christie allegedly has done? Why isn’t the press and the government investigating. Must be different rules for republicans and democrats.
Bunch of wussess.
PlowGate!
What a quick reality check for deBluzzio!
Hey, it’s payback time. Who cared when Boro Park and Crown Hights were neglected under Bloomberg?
Those hearings were a ruse!
Brooklyn was not cleared effectively. Many avenues were passable but streets were neglected. Some trucks went through with plows raised and not enough salters were out early enough. Clearing varied by areas and neighborhoods. I am not sure why Hikind and Greenfield were satisfied.
