Trenton, NJ – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s re-election campaign and the state’s Republican Party committee have received subpoenas from federal prosecutors investigating allegations that his aides created traffic jams as political payback.

Mark Sheridan, a lawyer representing Christie for Governor and the Republican State Committee, tells The Associated Press the subpoenas are for documents related to the closure of traffic lanes near the George Washington Bridge.
A state legislative committee investigating the traffic jams has also issued subpoenas to the two organizations.
Sheridan says the Republican governor’s campaign and the party will cooperate with investigators.
The traffic lane closures created gridlock in the town of Fort Lee in September. Documents gathered by legislators suggest the lanes were closed as political payback, possibly because Fort Lee’s mayor declined to endorse Christie.
why no subpena for Benghazi, NSA, IRS, etc etc
Even if it was payback, what law was broken? This is a witch hunt. Christie should be familiar with that, he did many of those when he ran the local fbi office.

The Senate Judiciary Committee today (June 2007) voted 13-3 to give Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) the authority to issue subpoenas for information and documents.relating to the administration’s warrantless wiretapping of Americans.
House Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa, R-California, is again pressing the IRS over its scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. He issued another subpoena late Thursday (November 2013) to the Treasury Department, according to two spokespeople for the committee.
