Several neighborhoods, including Manhattan’s Upper East Side, were not plowed effectively, snarling traffic.

Some areas of Staten Island still had snow-covered streets Friday, three days after the storm that left up to 11 inches of snow on the city.

De Blasio denied that Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty’s job was in jeopardy. Doherty, who also worked for ex-mayor Michael Bloomberg, is serving in an interim capacity.

De Blasio personally inspected the Upper East Side in the wake of the storm. He says he’ll do the same on Staten Island.

The mayor also says it is a coincidence that some of unplowed neighborhoods did not vote for him in November’s election.

Wasn’t that Dinkins’ opening line as well? You don’t have to be a nuvi to predict what will be at the end of days of this administration… strikes, taxes, bedlam. King Dinkins the second

    What an idiotic comment!
This is the same Sanitation Department that already learned from its mistakes a couple years ago in tje big blizzard. This by comparison was not a big blizzard. If anything its deBluzzio that needs to learn from his mistakes.
What WE need to learn is whether it was politics dictating a lackluster response and if so, deBluzzio needs to be investigated same as Gov. Christie. This would be deBluzzio Plowgate!

The men and women of Bk14 did a great job in Flatbush and Midwood despite the late start. Thje crews were preparing for a later start to the snowfall as was predicted, not the 8am start.

Staten Island and the Upper East Side were not the only areas ignored. Brooklyn didn’t look too wonderful either.

This Mayor is the guy who termed the city A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Is it any wonder why the upper East Side was NOT plowed? I’m sure Harlem and Bed Sty were plowed very well.. Get used to it NYC

Well, you guys are there, so you must know. From a distance, it looks like most of the city was open for business during the whole storm except for a couple of areas. Heck, it is a large snowstorm, what do you expect the city to do? Stay home for a day with the kids.
