The inauguration, which was held at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, had been rescheduled from its original intended date of January26th, presumably after organizers realized that the planned venue was not large enough to accommodate the expected number of guests, as previously reported on VIN News.
The gala celebration, which ran just short of three hours long, was a testament to Thompson’s commitment to serving Brooklyn’s diverse population, with guests rising to their feet and clapping along with the music of Love Fellowship Tabernacle at one point during the program, and giving Chazan Yaakov Stark a standing ovation after a cantorial benediction later on in the afternoon. In another nod to the many religious groups that call Brooklyn home, invocations were offered by Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser, Iman Shabhaz Ahmad Chisty, Pandit Keshav Jee and Bhai Bhupinder Singhji.

Among those who spoke during the program were Mayor Bill de Blasio, Senator Chuck Schumer, New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Public Advocate Letitia James, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Congressman Jerrold Nadler and Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez. Many of the speakers acknowledged Thompson’s mother Clara, a single mother raised a family in the projects, and one of the first female members of the NYPD to patrol the streets of New York City.
Following the official swearing in Thompson delivered his inaugural address, making special mention of former District Attorney Charles Hynes, thanking him for his 24 years of service to Kings County.

I don’t know… I’m having mixed reactions about this.
On one hand, we need to show support and strength of community.
Yet, it is prohibited to eat; drink; mingle with non-Jews at one table?
This kissing up by all those that not only didn’t support Mr Thompson is laughable, I guess that’s how politics is played.
