Miami, FL – Florida’s Jewish Population Becoming More Diverse

    27

Reuters FILEMiami, FL – In direct contradiction to the age-old assumption that just “old Jews” retired and moved way to live in the “Sunshine State,” Florida’s Jewish population and regionalized communities have now become some of the most diverse and age-integrated in the country.

JTA.org (http://bit.ly/1eQcOTk) reports that according to the recent census, over half a million Jews currently reside in three counties alone; Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade, where—for a variety of reasons, everything ranging from Jewish-friendly infrastructure to cost of living—the influx of Jewish residents over the past twenty years has been rivaled only by that of Latinos.

What has resulted, according to CEO Jacob Solomon from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, is a mélange of cultures and religions co-existing nicely in the warm Florida weather.

“We’re such an international community,” Solomon said.

This place is so beautiful and inviting. Just looking at the picture makes you just want to go for a walk in a warm climate.

I agree with #5 -In addition to the alligators and sinkholes, there are also hurricanes, which cause massive power interruptions for weeks, horrible humidity and insects in the summer, medical care which is not up to par, including substandard hospitals (i.e. West Boca Medical Center), very aggressive and dangerous drivers, including both native Floridians, and transplanted drivers from up North, very rude, nasty, and unfriendly individuals, racial tension between Haitians and Whites, Cubans and Blacks, Blacks and Whites, anti-semitism against Yidden, incompetent law enforcement individuals, very bad traffic in southern Florida, high crime rate, and other associated problems. Don’t get me wrong; Florida is great for a two to three week vacation (i.e. Disney World, Universal Studios, Cape Kennedy, Miami Beach, Key West), but there is no way that I would live there, with its problems. It is not a paradise, and there are nicer areas to live than in southern Florida.
