The chestnut, planted on the west lawn of the Capitol, came from the original tree Frank could see from her cramped space in Amsterdam where she was hiding for two years from the Nazis.

Republicans, Democrats, Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans and Holocaust survivors were present at the ceremony. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who is Jewish himself, recited the “Shehecheyanu,” a Hebrew prayer marking special occasions.

Eleven saplings have come from the original tree before it collapsed in 2010. One was planted at “Ground Zero” in NYC.

Are such cuttings available? My wife wants to start the garden from scratch and I would love to have a (small) bit of this history.
