U.S. District Court Judge Michael A. Ponsor ruled that motions to dismiss all counts, shall be granted. The suit was filed by former property manager Shalom Segelman, of Waterbury, Conn.
Longhill Gardens was shut down by court order following a prolonged court battle between the city and Segelman. The city had attempted to force Segelman to pay for repairs and operational expenses at the Longhill Street condominium complex, before it was shut down by the court, based on code violations and lack of funds for expenses.
In his suit, Segelman argued that the city violated his civil rights by taking a hard-line approach at certain junctures in the dispute. In addition, Segelman, “an observant Jew,” sought damages against the city, alleging the city went forward with a court hearing on a Jewish holiday and that the city insisted that he be jailed for contempt of court at a facility where kosher food was not served.
Ponsor also stated he would dismiss claims by Segelman against two other defendants, CitiBank, the mortgage holder, and Concerned Citizens for Springfield Inc., a community action group.
” alleging the city went forward with a court hearing on a Jewish holiday and that the city insisted that he be jailed for contempt of court at a facility where kosher food was not served.”
why would something be alleged or not – it was either on a jewish holiday or not – take out a calendar.
the food was either kosher or it was not
he should call a better lawyer…..
This nutjob made a big chillul hashem. He misbehaved in court so badly that in the end the jusges got tired of his silly excuses, even if some of his claims had a grain of truth. if you follow the big picture you would cringe at the bad name this meshugene gave all yidden trying to establish a community in waterbury.
ShatzMatz…you are so wrong. Springfield is one of th emost corrupt cities in the US. Conflict of interest is not in their vocab. Get your facts straight. Truth is Waterbury departments are pretty shaky too when it comes to ethics.
