Brandon Correa of Rochester pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in federal court Tuesday after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges that include threatening the president.

The indictment says Correa posted a Twitter message June 11 telling the president to “get ready to die.” Federal prosecutors say he tweeted similar sentiments directed at Cuomo and Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy the same day.

At his arraignment, Correa indicated he wants to represent himself. He’s due back in court Friday for an attorney appointment hearing.

These idiots have every right to express disagreement with the President’s policies and even express dislike or disrespect of the President personally. However, direct threats against the well being of any public official are over the line and he will likely find himself either in prison or in a mental institution. I’m sure a few of our right wingnut posters will scream about First Amendment rights but we can ignore them since the courts will. The same policies should apply to the recent threats voiced against several Republican leaders because of their opposition to immigration reform etc.
