I hope they close all of them. What a bunch of chevrah ganovim, $3 for a latte and $2 for a cup of coffee. With the economy in shambles people are thinking twice b4 splurging on a latte or frapuchino

Hopefully they are not shut, especially since he subsidizes whoever wants a Jewish school education in all of Seattle or possibly all of WA state. I heard tuition is about $500 per chld per year.

Instead of trying to save money by closing some stores, the owner should close all of his stores for one day a week. Not only will he save money, he will gain in making a kiddush Hashem by closing his stores on Shabbos.

I stick to my Tasters choice coffee, costs me .35 a cup, and in shul i have it for free. I don’t know what Starbucks tastes like so i’m not missing out on anything, if i have an extra dollar, i’d throw it in the pushka, rather than spending 2 for a extra taaiva..

Howard Schultz does not subsidize Jewish Ed in Seattle and WA State, and tuition is not $500!

The Samis Foundation subsidizes the Northwest Yeshiva High School so that tuition is $3K. Samis also provides grants to other Jewish schools in WA State. (Samis was the foundation created from the estate of the late Sam Israel. It is administered by some rabbis from the community, but mainly by a bunch of very, very rich business men – who may not be entirely in tune with the needs of regular Joes from the community.)

I remember when Howard Schultz (who is indeed Jewish) was guest of honor at a Seattle Hebrew Academy Dinner – presumably to encourage him to hand over the cash. Schultz has given something to Jewish educational establishments, but really not a whole bunch.
