Starbucks said 70 percent of the stores slated to be closed had opened since the start of the 2006 fiscal year. The total includes 100 previously announced store closures.
CEO Howard Schultz says unprofitable stores were identified through a review aimed at transforming the business for the long-term.
I hope they close all of them. What a bunch of chevrah ganovim, $3 for a latte and $2 for a cup of coffee. With the economy in shambles people are thinking twice b4 splurging on a latte or frapuchino
IF A KOSHER STEAK RAW COSTS MIN 12.00 WHY CANT A FINISHED PRODUC OF COFFEE BE 3 DOLLARS . IF YU DONT LIKE IT GO ELSEWARE.
where do you buy your steaks?
why shhould kosher steak cost $12 – Ever look in a supermarket non kosher it goes for $3 a pound. I think the ganovim here are all those involved in the production of glatt product.
Hopefully they are not shut, especially since he subsidizes whoever wants a Jewish school education in all of Seattle or possibly all of WA state. I heard tuition is about $500 per chld per year.
The best coffee in the world!
Stop complaining and start davening, long live Starbucks! It gives me chayus to learn and daven
The worst coffee in the world – way to bitter.
Dunkin Donuts coffee – the best coffee in the world.
Stupid americans waste all their money on luxuries and rack up crdit card debt like there is no tomorrow.

By the way-He is Jewish. Why can’t you ‘Fargin’ that he makes some money? He actually has a connection to the rosh hayeshiva in the Mir in Israel.
I hope he can open more locations and support the jewish people like he is doing till now
annon 5:53 did you know you just wished a fellow jew to loose money god works in his own ways it might just spin and happen to you (G-D forbid) for cursing a fellow jew be happy he makes money dont buy by him and dont buy matzah that is overpriced by what %?
Instead of trying to save money by closing some stores, the owner should close all of his stores for one day a week. Not only will he save money, he will gain in making a kiddush Hashem by closing his stores on Shabbos.
I stick to my Tasters choice coffee, costs me .35 a cup, and in shul i have it for free. I don’t know what Starbucks tastes like so i’m not missing out on anything, if i have an extra dollar, i’d throw it in the pushka, rather than spending 2 for a extra taaiva..
Howard Schultz does not subsidize Jewish Ed in Seattle and WA State, and tuition is not $500!
The Samis Foundation subsidizes the Northwest Yeshiva High School so that tuition is $3K. Samis also provides grants to other Jewish schools in WA State. (Samis was the foundation created from the estate of the late Sam Israel. It is administered by some rabbis from the community, but mainly by a bunch of very, very rich business men – who may not be entirely in tune with the needs of regular Joes from the community.)
I remember when Howard Schultz (who is indeed Jewish) was guest of honor at a Seattle Hebrew Academy Dinner – presumably to encourage him to hand over the cash. Schultz has given something to Jewish educational establishments, but really not a whole bunch.
