New York, NY – A recent purge of transcripts from speeches and statements from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio by the Wall Street Journal shows that the mayor is exceedingly fond of using the words “historic” and “transcendental” to describe his policies and actions, sparking a debate amongst political analysts and linguistic experts alike.

WSJ.com (http://on.wsj.com/1oN7Ois) reports that while it is not unusual for elected figures to to adopt what experts refer to as a “linguistic coin,” or a favorite saying or phrase, in de Blasio’s case it appears the mayor may have jumped the shark, applying the terms “historic” and “transcendental” a combined 80 times during his first nine months to his own actions and initiatives.
For instance, the WSJ purge shows that de Balsio has used the term “historic” 27 times already in reference to his universal pre-kindergarten initiative, while “transcendent” has often been the mayor’s choice of word in describing policies like his paid sick leave initiative and the NYPD’s reduced use of “stop and frisk.”
Linguistic expert Geoffrey Nunberg from the University of California Berkeley School of Information said de Blasio’s overuse of the term “historic” in reference to himself may be something he’ll regret, saying “It’s the kind of linguistic coin that is quickly devalued.”
When asked to comment on de Blasio’s choice of “transcendent,” spokesman Phil Walczak said only the “people of New York” will decide whether or not de Blasio’s policies “transcend history.”
Mr. De Blasio is running an historic scam on the backs of the taxpayers of New York. He has assembled blocks of voters (teachers, unions, tenants) whose votes he has bought by promising them enormously lucrative rewards (retroactive raises for teachers, 0% rent increases for tenants, paid employee sick leave, etc) and he has kept those promises with the financing provided by the taxpayers and businesses of New York. He is in the process of decimating and demoralizing the law-enforcement apparatus as a reward to the liberal crazies who would just as soon destroy the city they occupy. We got what we voted for — the reincarnation of the late, unlamented, super liberal, John Lindsay and we got one we didn’t have the opportunity to vote against –The Very Reverend Al Sharpton, the epitome of ethics, morality and the standard – bearer of the rule of law.
Here’s a word we could use to describe DeBlabla… SOCIALIST!
