Israel – Hundreds of people in the Hefer Valley region of Israel were evacuated or told to stay inside after eight tons of ammonia were leaked from a factory.

One person was killed, a 58-year-old man sustained moderate injuries and 15 others were hurt, but not seriously, reports Ynet News (http://bit.ly/1ps2szk).
Nine firefighters were taken to the hospital.
During routine work at the Hod Hefer factory, an employee hit a pipe leading to ammonia storage. More than 15 emergency services teams were deployed to the leak.
People have been ordered to stay up to 2.5 kilometers away from the leak site.
