According to State Police, a van driving on Nininger Road crossed the double yellow line, striking the tractor trailer head on just before 1 PM this afternoon.
“There was one male in the tractor trailer who was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center and the driver of the van was flown to Westchester with a broken femur and numerous other injuries,” Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police told VIN News.
Kiryas Joel’s public safety Director, Moses Vitriol, said that the van was heading towards Kiryas Joel at the time of the accident.
Town of Woodbury Police, And Fire, Woodbury Community Ambulance, Mobile Life Support Services, Kiryas Joel Fire Department and Kiryas Joel Hatzolah all responded to the scene. According to Vitriol, the driver of the van is a 25 year old Kiryas Joel resident, who was transported by Hatzolah to the landing zone at the State Police headquarters, located half a mile from the accident scene. The only other occupant of the van, a Hispanic male, suffered shoulder injuries and was transported by Woodbury Community Ambulance to Orange Regional Medical Center.
Removing the victims who were entrapped in the mangled van was no easy task.
“We treated and stabilized the patients while the fire departments worked together to extricate them from the van,” said Sruly Knobloch of Kiryas Joel Hatzolah. “Hopefully all three victims have a speedy recovery.”
A driver should always be very carefully while driving. Especially In the nine days we need to be very very carefully when outside the home.
Name for tehillim?
wow..what a miracle. Must be the trailer was uphill and the car came into him downhill. it was the other way around he had no chance surviving this accident.
I always get so nervous driving down this road. when the weather is slippery or foggy I take Larkin Rd instead of Nininger, a bit longer but I feel safer.
whatever Shomer Hashem Pesoyim, we need hashems rachmim every second but we have to practice Safety.
by the way for this guy who cut me off yesterday on rt.42 before the four corners and then he slipped into a ditch busting his front tire ,it could of been death chas veshulem . some young drivers just think they are in coney island riding the bumping cars. they drive their innocent wife around showing off how fast he can make it from woodboure to Monticello.
