The Van Buren County sheriff’s department says at least two people spray-painted a Nazi swastika on a sign at the entrance of Camp Agudah Midwest late Saturday or early Sunday. The Kalamazoo Gazette (http://bit.ly/1OMxKsW ) has posted photos that also show swastikas spray-painted on a picnic table and a car.
Authorities say the vandals also damaged a building at the camp, which is in Geneva Township, near South Haven.
The attack happened as Jews observed a day of fasting commemorating the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem by the Babylonians and by the Romans.
In a letter to parents posted online, the camp says it’s hired a night security guard and has stepped up security.
