A Quinnipiac University Poll (http://bit.ly/1MOYn1g) of 1,108 voters conducted between July 30 and August 4 found that only 33 percent of New York City residents said the quality of life in the city is “very good” or “good” – the lowest number ever measured – compared with 48 percent of voters who say the quality of life has gotten worse. 32 percent said it had remained the same with 19 percent saying the quality of life is better than it had previously been.
A record high number of voters, 46 percent, said crime is a “very serious” problem in New York City, with 44 percent saying crime in “somewhat serious.” The poll also found that 53 percent of voters reported seeing more homeless people than they previously did.
“The quality of life in New York City isn’t good and it’s getting worse, many voters think,” Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Maurice Carroll said. “It’s not just newspaper hype about the return of the bad old days, New Yorkers say. Many are seeing more homeless people on the streets and encountering more pan-handlers.”
The NYPD received some encouraging news, with New York City voters approving 53 – 41 percent of the way the police city-wide are doing their job. NYPD Commissioner William Bratton received a 52 to 36 percent approval rating, but Mayor de Blasio did not fare well across a variety of categories.
The Poll’s margin of error is +/- 2.9 percentage points.
What do you expect when you elect a mayor who’s only qualification for office is that he has an interracial marriage
Easily the worst mayor since Dinkins and maybe worse, if that’s possible. A mayor needs to do something comrade, try driving a cab instead
The quality has most definitely gone down, more beggars, panhandlers, and of course much more violence. Taking away stop and frisk is helping that for sure. As well as more traffic due to changing car lanes to bike lanes. I can’t wait till I can move out!!
I dont know why they needed a poll about this. Its pretty clear to me.
Thanks DeBozio
Can you believe it …..The morons who voted him in aren’t happy ???? There is hope !!!!
No shock here. The incompetent Mayor and his virulently anti-American best friend who he forced in as City Council speaker do not care about the people who live and work here. They are more focused on stupidity. I’m sure the carriage horses are happy. And I’m sure the ISPs that will be doing the installations for free internet for public housing residents are happy. Taxpayers? Not so much. Oh and the Speaker and Mayor want it to be legal to urinate on the street again so what do you think is going to happen to quality of life? These two are turning the city back into the vulgar toilet bowl it was under Dinkins.
Democrats simply cannot run NYC, its that simple. Im not sure any politician can successfully run this city. I would vote Trump in for mayor though, in a heartbeat. For president? Naa
The graffiti is making a rampant comeback; that is the first sign that the vandals are retaking control.
