Soon after the announcement by medical authorities, Palestinians rallied in the family’s home village of Duma, calling for a “day of rage” throughout Palestinian territories.

Suspected Jewish attackers torched the family’s home in the northern West Bank on July 31, killing the 18-month-old boy, Ali. His father Saad Dawabsheh died on Aug. 9 and his mother Riham, 27, four weeks later.

“To my regret, she passed away after midnight,” a hospital spokeswoman said. A second son is still in hospital.

The U.N. envoy to the Middle East has expressed concern over what he described as Israel’s “lack of progress” in apprehending suspected Jewish extremists responsible for a July arson attack that killed a Palestinian couple and their toddler.

Nickolay Mladenov called for “justice” in a statement released after 27-year-old Rihan Dawabsheh died early Monday of her wounds from the attack. Her husband Saad died earlier while their 18-month-old son Ali was burned to death in the attack.‎

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the attack as an act of terrorism and ordered a crackdown on violent far-right Jewish groups.

The new measures allow the detention without trial of Israeli citizens suspected of political violence against Palestinians and harsher interrogations – measures previously reserved largely for Palestinian suspects.

Several alleged leaders of Jewish extremist groups have since been detained, though none have been publicly accused of direct involvement in the attack.

“Over a month has passed and the Israeli government hasn’t yet brought the terrorists to justice,” Saeb Erekat, secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said in a statement.

“If Israel is not stopped and held accountable, then Riham will not be the last victim of Israeli terror,” he said in a statement.

There was no immediate reaction to the news of the death from the Israeli government.‎

This is not the Jewish Way!! We need to fight our enemies, consistent with our declaration “Never Again.” However, violence against random people with no specific justification or evidence of guilt is nothing but terrorism and makes the situation infinitely worse. Those responsible for this attack need to be brought to justice.

So I just posted my first comment in 5 years and got a message it will be posted pending approval. Did not realize the comments are actually moderated before they appear. Regardless of whether my personal comment gets posted, I must say that I have lost some respect for VIN if some of the more extreme comments appearing on this sites, which clearly violate the sites own rules, were actually moderated prior to posting. Wow!

Yehudah Glick paid a condolence call to the bereaved Arab family in the village and as a result of his first-hand look there, discovered that there are many doubts about connecting any settlers with this horrific crime. It was mamash in the middle of the village, a point where attackers would be the most vulnerable and therefore a highly unlikley target for any attacker who would wish to escape. Suspicion falls on local villagers, then.
