The study of government health surveys echoes previous research and shows numbers increased substantially between 1988 and 2012 although they mostly leveled off after 2008. Overall, 12 percent to 14 percent of adults had diagnosed diabetes in 2012, the latest data available. Most of that is Type 2 diabetes, the kind linked with obesity and inactivity.
Almost 40 percent have pre-diabetes, meaning elevated blood sugar levels that could lead to full-fledged disease. Studies have shown lifestyle changes can delay or prevent diabetes in these people.
Whites had lower diabetes rates than Hispanics, blacks and Asian-Americans.
The study is based on surveys involving in-home exams and questionnaires. It was published in Tuesday’s Journal of the American Medical Association.
Guys, I just lost 12 lbs (to 181 lbs) by putting a moderate portion on my plate and not eating anything more than that. Remember that you have fruits at home that you can eat it later if you get hungry. Eat a lot of salad as appetizer on shabbos and take your time with conversation and songs before going into the main course; by that time, you will be somewhat satisfied, and will be able to skip potato kugel and only eat the minimum. You won’t be hungry later. It’s working for me.
The secret is based on that you only need to eat a little now to feel satisfied one hour later. If you eat a lot, you will bad and disgusted about yourself.
Just take a look at the shopping cart of any random person at the co-op in Lakewood on a thursday evening and you will understand why half of americans have diabetes and 3/4 are overweight. They literally have 4 huge aisles dedicated to nosh and candy
And then you can have the lap band or gastric bypass or sleeve. You don’t really understand how to eat in moderation. Exercise is also a key ingredient.
