Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY – After a 126-year history of providing a military-style education to its students, the New York Military Academy officially closed its doors last Monday and is now headed for auction later this month. Insiders say the Hasidic village of Kiryas Joel has emerged a possible bidder on the 113-acre parcel of land which carries a minimum bidding price of $9.5M.

NYTIMES.com (http://nyti.ms/1NOffa9) reports that the closing of the institution took some by surprise, but after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March and failing to close the deal on series of financial bailouts—one of which included a plea for help from GOP front-runner and alumni Donald Trump—the school was unable to open its doors to students for the new school year.

According to sources, members of the Satmar Hasidic community in Kiryas Joel have expressed interest in the property as a satellite for its fast-growing community and have toured the property in recent years.

When contacted last week, KJ spokesman Rabbi Moishe Indig said, “If it’s a good deal they may look into it.”

I have an idea, since most chassidish yeshivos, is usually run similar, to military style, why don’t buy off the campus, and keep it the way it is, and start teaching these kids some sports and responsibilities, while staying in yeshiva, gosh, wish I would have extra money, I would open a yeshiva/military Academy.

Where will they get the money from ?

It would be a real Kiddush hashem and a testament to the evolution of thinking in the Satmar community if both the Aronites and Zalmanites were to pool their resources and purchase this property and use it to train their yungerleit to serve in the armed forces of either the United States and EY. While this might take some time to fully develop, it would show their commitment to the common defense of the countries that have provided them so much.

To those who believe the Satmar are pacifists and not militaristic, go back in the VIN archives and read the stories and watch the videos of the Battle of Beis Joel against the heretics who sought to establish their own beis medrash in the basement of the big shul. Having some formal military training at a great military academy would have been a gamechanger.

Here we go again. If anyones interested go to news12.com and see whats going on with people in the Hasidic community. The question still remains and hasn’t been addressed yet. How does a certain group of people collect welfare from the state and have the money to keep buying up land in Rockland County and Orange County? The article on News12 has just released an article where a worker for the office of Social Services was penalized for speaking out about the welfare fraud going on with this group of people and officials are denying it! Someone needs to investigate whats been going on for decades with this group scamming our system while being able to buy up all this real estate!
