Jerusalem – Netanyahu: No Quick Fix For Latest ‘Wave Of Terror’

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (C) sits next to Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon (2nd L), Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gadi Eisenkot (L), acting Police Commissioner Bentzi Sau (R) and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (2nd R), as he speaks during a joint news conference in Jerusalem, October 8, 2015. REUTERSJerusalem – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday there was no quick fix for the latest wave of Palestinian lone-wolf attacks the Jewish state has faced in recent days and that strong steps would be taken against those inciting to violence.

“We are in the midst of a wave of terror … the actions (we are taking) do not yield instant results like a magic but with methodical determination we will prove that terror does not pay and we will defeat it,” Netanyahu said in a primetime news conference, with top security officials by his side.

Israel has always known how to push back the terrorists and build the country and “we will defeat them this time as well,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu praised soldiers and civilians who have acted to stop attackers in recent days. He says Israel will overcome the spike in violence and pursue the perpetrators.

Netanyahu also listed a number of steps Israel has taken in a bid to contain the violence, including the demolition of attackers’ homes and tougher punishment for Palestinian stone throwers.

Netanyahu blames the violence on incitement from Palestinian officials over a Jerusalem site holy to both Jews and Muslims.

In an answer to a question from a reporter about the government cooperating with the opposition, Netanyahu called upon Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog to join the coalition.

Due to the wave of violence Netanyahu said he wanted a wider government and unity in the nation.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s move to ban lawmakers from the holy site appeared to put him on a collision course with hard-liners within his own governing coalition, who have been pressing for a harsh crackdown and settlement expansion in the West Bank.

But Netanyahu likely fears that a tougher response could anger the U.S. administration and lead to increased casualties on both sides, risking the outbreak of a full-fledged uprising like those in the 1980s and 2000s.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday he would not allow his people to be “dragged” into more violence with Israel. Speaking to business leaders in the West Bank city of Ramallah, he said he was committed to “peaceful popular resistance,” though he backs the protesters who have clashed with Israeli police at Al-Aqsa.

He insisted the Palestinians are not interested in a further escalation but that his “hands are with those who are protecting Al-Aqsa mosque.”

Let Netanyahu consult with President Xi Jinping of China. He will learn about some pretty quick fixes to this type of violence, the first rule is to keep the media out of all quick fix areas while permanent repairs are being conducted en mass.

No quick fix. Just continue firing at the terrorists, praying they’re not dead and healing them in Israel’s hospitals and then sending them back home or for a short while in jail. That’s what spineless leaders who are afraid of their own shadows and keep looking back at Obama’s, the UN’s reaction do and expect the situation to quiet down.

What’s Netanyahu’s motto? “Bark loudly & carry a small stick”? He should instead heed Chazal; “Emor me’ot V’aseh Harbeh”. And the ridiculous and pathetic “strong steps would be taken against those inciting to violence”? We all know and hear Abbas inciting violence; be a man and admit that you can’t do anything because you’re afraid of: (pick any 1 or more) 1. The US; 2. the World; 3. The Arab countries; 4. the Palestinians; 5. the Israeli Left; 6. Europe; 7. Etc, but stop pretending that you’ll actually stop the inciters!

Each attack should result in the arrest of a few hundred terrorists, whose bodies are sent back to their families – headless. Talk with the sword.

The sure fix is: cease and desist allowing Jews onto the Temple Mount; cease all building projects on the West Bank and start forcing the settlers to leave – immediately.

So bibi admits to fearing angering the U.S. Administration, namely obama. What a feckless position! Where’s his courage, the one he showed when he addressed the UN last week?! His responsibility is to the Israeli people, and to protecting their lives at all costs ! To ;(/  with obama! Do what’s right!
