New York – NY Times Analyzes 95,000 Words Spoken By Trump Over Past Week; Calls His Style And Method ‘Ominous’

REUTERS/Mark Kauzlarich New York, NY – In an almost-clinical exercise aimed at defining the overall message of GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, the New York Times has analyzed some 95,000 words spoken by him during various stops on the campaign trail over the past week, concluding that the billionaire mogul is featuring an ‘ominous’ message filled with hatred, violence, and demagoguery.

NYTIMES.com (http://nyti.ms/1TsCRjs) reports that a typical week of Trump-speak features a “dark power of words” that not only allows Trump to “stoke the fears and grievances of Americans,” but links the Republican frontrunner, according to some historians, to “some demagogues of the past century.”

Particularly effective for Trump, according to the TIMES, is his use of “We vs. them.”

Matt Motyl, a political psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago who has been carefully noting the speech patterns of the 2016 GOP primary field, said, “‘We vs. them’ creates a threatening dynamic, where ‘they’ are evil or crazy or ignorant and ‘we’ need a candidate who sees the threat and can alleviate it. He appeals to the masses and makes them feel powerful again: ‘We’ need to build a wall on the Mexican border — not ‘I,’ but ‘we.’ ”

Another aspect of Trump’s style that continues to be effective is that a “specter of violence looms over much of his speech,” according to the TIMES.

Trump never leaves a rally without reminding his audience that ISIS is guilty of “chopping off heads” and has even gone as far as saying, “Maybe he should have been roughed up” when confronted with an assault of a Black Lives Matter protester at one of his events.

According to Georgetown University historian Michael Kazin, Trump has taken this tactic directly out of Barry Goldwater’s 1964 presidential campaign.

“Such statements and accusations make him seem like a guy who can and will cut through all the b.s. and do what in your heart you know is right — and necessary,” Kazin said.

Great analysis, he is still the best choice out there. This is exactly what we need in the environment we live in.

So the article ends up criticizing him for being inclusive of “we”? I’d like to see an article about how many times Obummer has used the pronouns “I”, “me”, “my”, “mine”. Talk about narcissistic, self-centered, shiftless and do nothing.

The more papers like the NY Times write AGAINST Trump, the stronger the conviction we have FOR him. Because the NY Times has NO credibility!!
    Thank you!

It’s funny how the NYT is trying to spin this in a bad way when in truth, Trump is the first guy in a long time to speak the the mind of the American People

And last time I checked “we” is a form of unity not divicefness ….a comentor before makes a good point BHO use words that put that focus only on him ……very haughty

I’ve conducted an analysis of the several billion words published by the New York Times over the last 35 years and came to the conclusion that they are anti-Semitic, anti-American, illogical, not newsworthy and, worst of all, irrelevant. There!
