Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered a hike to $10.50 an hour for state employees working in New York City and to $9.75 elsewhere.

The governor’s office says that will affect about 2,000 people.

It also tracks the Cuomo administration’s decision to raise wages for about 200,000 fast-food workers in New York at chains with 30 or more restaurants nationally.

Both groups are scheduled for additional incremental raises reaching $15 over three years in the city and over six years elsewhere.

The governor’s office says that will affect about 10,000 state workers and cost annually about $20.6 million.

Along with the hike in their minimum wage comes minimum work!

Raising the minimum wage and coining this movement “fair pay” will not solve the real problem which is the huge disparity between rich and poor. This gap has multiplied rapidy since the 1950’s with no end in sight. This is what is truly catapulting Trump’s political rise. We still have enough people that are able to drive home prices and living expenses through the roof while there are a majority of Americans ( and our Jewish brethren) who can barely sustain their living expenses. History has shown that this is unsustainable. Can the runaway train be halted? What is the solution? Raising taxes? Increasing social benifits? Curbing immigration? All of these ideas are not popular to the right and left but many many people are being left out of the American dream and I’m really not sure ANY of the candidates will be capable of making the hard choices necesary to keep the American dream a reality for everybody.
