In a statement Thursday, the army said it had found Tair Kaminer “unfit for service.”

In Israel, military service is mandatory for most young Jewish men and women. Kaminer, 19, refused to enlist because she opposes Israel’s nearly 50-year occupation of Palestinian lands. Instead, she has asked to perform civilian national service.

Kaminer has been sentenced to a series of jail terms totaling more than 150 days behind bars. She is expected to be released on July 29.

In a statement, Kaminer said she was relieved to be heading home, but vowed to continue her struggle against the “oppression of the Palestinian people.”

why cant the dati leumi do the same, the date leumi are kicked out of their homes, have their yeshivas destroyed (just yesterday the Zionist did this in Yerushalayim), if we can get the Dati Leumi onto the chareidi side vis a vis the army and have them vote with us in the Knesset it would be a bloc of 40 in the Knesset and in 20 years we can control the entire Knesset and the economy and dedicate more money to yeshivas.

“Unfit” for army service. ? What took 150 days of jail time to come to this conclusion?
Let her get married by force to one of her “opressed friends” from the nation of peace…. then she might come bk to her senses

I give this Israeli girl credit for having the conscience to stand up for her convictions. It is ludicrous for Israel to subject females to mandatory military service. No other nation on earth has done that; she should have been given the option of performing alternative civilian service. Of course, there will probably be the holier than thou commentators on this site, with their pompous and snide remarks, blasting this girl, and probably myself.

Seems to me that people who refuse to serve in the IDF have little business criticizing people who refuse to serve in the IDF.
