(AP Photo/Evan Vucci)New York – President-elect Donald Trump, after threatening consequences for companies that move jobs overseas, turned to another Indiana company planning a move to Mexico, drawing a rebuke from former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Saturday.

“Rexnord of Indiana is moving to Mexico and rather viciously firing all of its 300 workers. This is happening all over our country. No more!” Trump said in a Friday night Twitter post.

Rexnord Corp , an industrial supplier based in Milwaukee, announced plans in October to move a bearing plant, and its 300 jobs, from Indianapolis to Mexico, employees told the Indianapolis Star at the time.

Company representatives on Saturday did not respond to a request for comment on Trump’s tweet.

The Republican, who takes office on Jan. 20, warned on Thursday of consequences for companies that move jobs out of the United States but did not specify what they would be.

Trump, who campaigned on promises to keep manufacturing jobs from fleeing the country, claimed credit for a deal in which Indiana state officials agreed to give United Technologies Corp $7 million worth of tax breaks to encourage the company to keep around 1,000 jobs at its Carrier unit in Indianapolis instead of hiring in Mexico.

The agreement was less than a complete victory for Trump, as the air conditioner maker will still send an estimated 1,300 jobs there.

Critics, including some Republicans, said making such agreements with individual companies amounted to corporate welfare and was not an effective way of keeping or generating U.S. jobs.

Sanders, who criticized U.S. trade policy in his race against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Trump’s deal with Carrier set a “very dangerous precedent” of having taxpayers subsidize multibillion dollar corporations to “beg them” to keep jobs in the country.

On Saturday, he challenged Trump over his Rexnord tweet.

“What are you going to do, @realDonaldTrump? Stand up for working people or give the company a massive tax break?” Sanders tweeted in response to Trump’s post.

Sanders supports tougher policies on corporations for outsourcing.

During the presidential campaign, Trump said his administration would put a 35 percent import tariff on goods made by American manufacturers that moved jobs offshore. He frequently pilloried Carrier for planning to move production to Mexico as he appealed to blue-collar voters in the Midwest, including in Indiana, whose governor, Mike Pence, is the vice president-elect.

It is unclear what steps would have to be taken by federalauthorities before Trump could retaliate against individualcompanies shifting jobs abroad.

Can’t anyone do math anymore? If every worker pays just $1500 in Federal taxes per year because he/she kept her job, that’s $1.5 million back to the Treasury. If the government doesn’t have to pay unemployment benefits, welfare and Medicaid they save tens of thousands more which translates into tens of millions saved. Trump isn’t spending, he is investing . Sanders is a vindictive loser, who sold out to Hillary.Perhaps he will relinquish his pension benefits and send them to help poor Syrians in Aleppo. Don’t wait for that.

You stand up for workers via offering tax breaks. Yes this is not a socialst society. We can’t force companies to stay here. You have to offer them something in return.

To those who are concerned about cheating the tax payers from their fair share. Well let’s do a little math. Say a company with 1,000 jobs is generating a million dollars a year in taxes. Now it leaves a place like Indiana. Indiana is not exactly the most happening place. Its not NYC. Will another company just move in instead? (Especially if its cheaper to go to Mexico?) No. So now the company moves to Mexico. How much money does the state receive now? $0. What if we offer a 700,000 a year incentive and the company stays? The tax payers at least still get 300,000

Ok now, it’s laid off workers, chances are many will not find another job quickly. Again this is Indiana not NYC. Now we have to provide benefits to those workers. Say those benefits amount to one million dollars. Now the state has o foot a one million dollar bill too.

There is no mathematical question that tax payers are better off with tax breaks. And people who work and are productive are much better for society fiscally and mentally.

Sanders is an avowed socialist leaning toward Communist. If he had a say about our country there would be a ‘move to Cuba movement’ for its good weather and cigars, if nothing else. His views perfectly mesh with reliance on anti-American, big government and spend thrift policy. Raul is not lasting much longer. I think Bernie should take over and try his hand. If he somehow succeeds without hand-outs than we should consider his warped views.

These sore loser democrats are just mad that Trump has been able to accomplish more for America before he even takes office, than the menuval Obama did in his two terms!
