State police said Nicholas Donato, 46, was spotted by the girl in the parking lot of V’Yoel Moishe girls school on Mountain Road.

He allegedly had his pants and underwear down to his knees, exposing himself.

The child ran home and told her father, who alerted the head of the village’s Public Safety Department who was in the area. Donato drove away from the scene and was stopped by police off Route 17 in the Town of Blooming Grove.

He was charged with exposure of a person, lewdness and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, as well as numerous vehicle and traffic violations.

He was released on his own recognizance to appear in Monroe Town Court on Thursday.

The girl only saw the man so how did they know who he was in what type of car and what he even looked like?
Could any person be arrested because a little girl said so?
I am not saying that I don’t believe the girl but there is alot of info missing.
Isn’t the parking lot loaded with teachers and students and only a little girl noticed didn’t tell a teacher but ran home and told her father not mother? Didn’t call police?
    More info please.

Any KJ resident will tell ya that this story is either a hoax or the most important part is missing. Let me explain. There is no such thing as girls alone there since its a wooded area. No mom let’s a 7 year old go there And it takes at least 2-3 minutes for the girl to reach her house AND tell the story AND call public safety AND the state police to arrive. You are talking 10 minutes at least. Plus, for a cop to take him off rt. 17 after all this time is right out of a fiction novel. So many questions. And the puzzle is 75 pct unfinished. Can anybody fill it in?

May the community stand united in combating a terrible happening such as this. May the community also stand united in its outrage when the perpetrator comes from within.

Actually, it looks like everything worked.

The man did his disgusting act.
The little girl had loving parents whom she was not afraid to tell what happened.
The little girl ran home and told her father.
    The man was arrested.

MANY people who are first-time offenders are released in their own recognizance. It means that the person is not a flight risk, and the judge is assured he will return for his court date.

He will appear in court tomorrow. Then we will find out what happens.

Though the punishment for first offenders for this disgusting act is usually minor, since he did not actually touch the girl, etc., it does give him a record. This means he will know that if he ever gets caught again, he is in real trouble. USUALLY this is a good deterrant.

Also, this is a much smaller town than Brooklyn. His reputation is ruined. That alone may be worse punishment than jail time.

you read about people shoplifting in woodbury commoms area and if they cant come up with $1000 bail they are kept in jail. this guy should have been kept WITHOUT BAIL, for trying this at a school. this was a premediated act!!!!

What poor mazal this guy had to be born ‘nisht fin inzerer’.

If he was ‘fin inzerer’ instead of 36 comments discussing why he should not have been let out without posting bail there would be 360 comments about ‘don lekaf zechus’ and the guy’s children needing shidduchim and he was only arrested because the cops are all antisimitin and ‘I know his family and the story cannot be true’ and other nonsense.

I am late, but hopefully not too late…

I got some details on this horrible story from one that was involved in it.

As some of the comments above stated, the biggest part of the story is missing, and I am not sure why the State Police did not disclose all the details. (Maybe that is how they work in cases of this nature.)

The man did more than what the news reported. (I am not sure of the posting guidelines of vinnews.com.)

Also, the man did very wild moves by running away, first from Mr. Witriol, director of KJPS, and then from the State Troopers, and he was at the end chased down with a State Police chopper from the Middletown police station while going at 90 MPH on the NY 17.

It was also mentioned by the Trooper that investigated the man, that the man already has a history of a similar case.

So why was he released so easily???
    I have the same question.

    More to follow…
