The city launched an investigation into 39 Brooklyn yeshivos in 2015 in response to allegations that the schools, which accept funding from the state, were not complying with the state curriculum regulations as previously reported on VIN News (http://bit.ly/2qx87Zo).

Officials at the DOE said today that they plan to send an interim report on the probe to the New York State Department of Education during the summer months, reported The Daily News (http://nydn.us/2qxiT1R).

Critics have accused City Hall of deliberately slowing down the pace of the investigation which began two years ago in order not to sever Mayor de Blasio’s close ties with the Chasidic community.

But Toya Holness, a spokesperson for the DOE, said that officials have visited several of the schools in question and have been working hand in hand with administrators to bolster their secular studies programs.

“We are encouraged by the work that is being done and will continue supporting schools to make improvements when necessary to ensure that all students receive a high quality education,” said Holness.
