Yigal Guetta of the Shas party said in an Israeli radio interview earlier this week that he and his family had gone to the celebration, held two years ago in Israel, because he wanted his sister’s son to be happy, although gay marriage violated his own religious beliefs.

A letter published on Monday by five prominent Israeli rabbis said same-sex marriage is an “abomination”. Accusing Guetta of “desecrating God’s will”, they called on his party to fire him.

Guetta made no immediate public statement after his resignation was confirmed by party officials.

The newspaper Haaretz quoted a source close to the politician as saying he had refused to apologize and decided to quit, to avoid being asked to do so by Shas’s own religious sages, who set party policy.

Same-sex weddings held in Israel are not sanctioned by the state, and only Orthodox rabbis can issue marriage licenses. Couples may marry without a license, but the union won’t be officially recognized.

Israel does recognize same-sex couples who marry abroad and any other non-Orthodox weddings performed outside of the country.

Hes labled ultra orthodox so the unorthodox shld feel good that hes one of theirs. Hes a no goodnik immoral person as many of his peers that call themselves ultra orthodox yidden. Well, Israel has no affiliation with Jewishnes, so y punish the guy? These filthy acts are actually endorsed by most feedom loving Israelis and pride themselves as tolerant of all types of people. This is a heretic state full of heretics that dont abide by the Torah and accept the lifestyle a real yid abhors. How despicable!

Right now, he probably feels remorse that he went. After all, it is Chodesh Elul and Yom Tov is coming up and I am sure he has a family to feed. What kind of income will he have? I kind of feel sorry for him. Yes, he was stupid, but don’t we all do one thing in life that we regret? Think back before you post. Not all of you are tzadikim!

Have anyone of you righteous ones ever known a Yid with a “Gay” relative? Compassion is needed here…this was his nephew, a boy he probably held when he was a baby. I too think he should not have attended the event…but your hostile self-righteousness is over the top.

The ones here screaming the loudest will ironically have the SAME situation happen in their families, that’s how life works.

While I’m against gay marriages, and public gay parades, as long as gays don’t bother me or touch my arms (which they like doing), I have no problem with them. I know for a fact that there are gay cops, gay soldiers, gay doctors, etc. It seems that they are born that way. However, I wish that they would stop advertising their sexual orientation. For example, last summer, at the Republican National Convention, Peter Thiel, the founder of Paypal got up to make a speech. He had the chutzpah to state that “I’m a proud gay Republican”. Now, if a straight Republican got up and stated “I’m a proud straight Republican”, he would have been branded a homophobic, or worse! Incidentally, the same groups who have condemned this Israeli legislator should clean up their own house, vis-a-vis child molesters, wife beaters and abusers, white collar criminals, organized criminals, etc.

Just as one would not attend an intermarriage ceremony one should clearly not attend a same gender ceremony. To do otherwise is to endorse the prohibited lifestyle.

Mr. Guetta had the right to attend his nephew’s celebration. It was his decision to make. It is none of our business and he does not owe any one an explanation.

Of Nature’s law same sex attraction is a violation
So say those who believe in a worldwide inundation
One man in marriage another may not take
So say believers in the Tree of Knowledge and a talking snake
Gays for their “crimes” must be stoned or hung.
So say those claiming the Earth is 6,000 years young
One man, one woman together for life
So say those who forget the biblical norm was more than one wife
Same sex love is unnatural, immoral and unwise
So say those who worship a bachelor always in the company of 12 guys
Eve came from Adam’s rib, not something new
Since he was a guy, she must have been, too
