The Israel Democracy Institute, citing official figures, says Monday that ultra-Orthodox male employment dropped from 51.7 percent in 2016 to 50.3 percent in 2017, halting a steady rise.

Gilad Malach, an institute researcher who specializes in the community, says the main cause is renewed subsidies to seminary students provided by a government that relies on the support of ultra-Orthodox parties.

For decades, the ultra-Orthodox have leveraged their significant political power into maintaining a segregated lifestyle. They run a separate network of schools, enjoy sweeping military draft exemptions and raise large families on taxpayer-funded handouts. But previous government programs, and a push from within, have led to increased integration.

That’s why Lapid was right. Don’t give charedi yeshivas money. They need to get a kick to go to work. Is torah the ikkur? Yes it is. But the world since adam was cursed with the idea of going to work. And the eibeshter wants torah with derech eretz. He does not want us to stay in a cave all life.

The army excuse is lam and fake news. Nowadays, anyone above the age of 26 can work with no army service (since under Lapid everybody is drafted) . So where are the Israeli accountants, lawyers , health professionals, tech guys?

Its the american askanim that can help fix this probelm. We need to work with the govt how to help the charedim integrate while respecting charedi beliefs. Its not impossible. The USA secular environment wasn’t always that friendly toward us either. But the askanim prevailed. (If one does it right they can even avoid shaking hands)

Lets start adopting jobs. Stop adopting kollels.

Duh. They won’t be employed if they refuse to be, and the government enables them.
