The State Comptroller’s office launched the 90-day pilot program in Ocean County last September, three months after 26 Lakewood residents — including many members of the town’s large Orthodox Jewish community — were accused of wrongfully collecting more than $2 million in public-assistance benefits. The office announced the program’s results Tuesday.

But many residents criticized the program, claiming it allowed people to steal taxpayer money. Several residents shared outrage on social media and called for those who accepted the benefits to face prosecution.

In many cases, those charged were accused of falsely reporting or misreporting income to become eligible for assistance programs.

Many were also scared off into making large payments because they got notice that they’d be investigated. Lest you say if you have nothing to hide why pay? Because once they get their clause on you, they will find a $100 infraction and lock you up. So most of that money was not from guilty people.

He means the prosecutor lawyers, with their scheming clause inserts, will get them.

LOL…I know the person who posted 17…he’s a Yeshiva grad, son of a close friend, and up and coming section leader in the office of a county prosecutor…I’m in another part of law enforcement, not prosecutions.

You have no clue as to what is racial profiling, which is ironic taking into account your frequent blasts at “all Muslims.”
