Peace Now said defense officials approved the plans Wednesday. It says nearly 400 homes received final approval for construction to begin, while the rest require further bureaucratic approvals.
Some 600,000 Israelis live in settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem — territories captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war and claimed by the Palestinians for a future state.
Israel’s Civil Administration, the defense body that approves such construction, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Most of the international community considers the settlements illegal and an impediment to peace.
Israel says the fate of the settlements must be resolved in peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
Why doesn’t Israel build and then announce they are built and as usual the UN will frown and guess what they will not be built, same old , same old, Bibi trick. Why does Israel have to announce anything JUST DO IT, it is your country.
My bro Munch says the entire United States is occupied territory as well.
Israeli watchdog group Peace Now? they are NOT an Israeli watchdog group but rather an anti Israeli watchdog group that is manned by self hating Jews who ignore the evil of the Arab and point out what we are doing in a most negative manner.
Feh! these turn coats belong in Gaza with their brain dead idiots who support Hamas.
1,000 is very little. Build 10,000, no 100,000. Make houses for diaspora jews, make subsidise housing. Most ex USSR jews can not afford housing in Israel, they will buy in the West Bank if it is cheap enough. Make shares, where jews can live part time. Establish art communities, gardening, for old jews. Opportunities are unlimited. Establish birthright program for buyers. Jews are very succesfull in real estate. West Bank is prime real estate.
